Summary:
This event will cover the expanding scope of BCBAs as an ethical consideration. The presentation will then cover basic tenants of the Community Reinforcement Approach, a behavior analytic approach to the treatment Substance Use Disorders. The presentation will cover seminal research, the establishment of treatment goals, the functional analysis of substance use disorders. The presentation will then go on to describe how the model combined with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy provides behavior analytic technologies for addressing internal triggers that influence substance use patterns.

Kyle Lininger, BCBA
Kyle is the Vice President of Clinical Integration at Intermountain Centers, Arizona's largest not-for-profit health and human services company. Most of Kyle’s clinical and administrative work has been aimed at helping people experiencing behavioral excesses including aggression, self-injury, substance use disorders, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors across the State of Arizona. His career has been about improving community capacity to support people experiencing these challenges and their families. This focus has led to leadership in community-based not for profits, public policy work, and enterprise scaling of clinical models to meet unmet needs.
Kyle lives in Tucson, Arizona with his wife Courtney Henson and his two children Molly and Jack.
Dr. Anne Bowen
Dr. Anne M. Bowen is retired Professor emeritus from the Psychology Dept. at the University of Arizona and the School of Nursing at the University of Wyoming. She completed her PhD in child clinical psychology at West Virginia University with a focus on Behavioral Medicine. Her training at WVU combined a strong background in Applied Behavior Analysis and Cognitive Behavior Therapies. She has a strong foundation in psychotherapy, having taught courses in CBT, Behavior Therapy, Adult and Child Behavioral Medicine, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Theories and Techniques of Psychotherapy.
She worked for 3 years in the School of Nursing at U. Wyoming, developing, and teaching mental health courses for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. This included courses that covered epidemiology, prevention and wellness, and interventions for chronic illness.
In terms of clinical supervision, Dr. Bowen is listed on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners “Clinical Supervisor” registry. She has provided individual and group supervision to clinical psychology doctoral students since 1995. Since retiring from UA she has provided supervision at Intermountain Centers for Human Development, to academy staff, outpatient staff and a number of therapists needing hours for licensure. She is also the Mental Health Coordinator and psychologist in the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic at Banner University Medical Center. This is an interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive physical and mental health services to adults and children with CF.
She has developed her skills as a Sport Psychologist. She and her students have coached student athletes at the University of Wyoming, including swimmers, volley ball players, and golfers. In terms of helping equestrians, she has done workshops, and written articles for the Northern Colorado Dressage club as well as worked individually with riders in the US and Canada.
