Summary:
This event will discuss the application and use of behavior analysis used in modern animal training. Additionally, participants will learn about the differences between therapy animals, service animals, and emotional support animals while discussing AAI (Animal Assisted Interventions).

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will understand how principles of behavior analysis can be effectively integrated into modern animal training, specifically in the context of dog training. Relevance to Behavior Analysis: This objective focuses on applying behavior analysis principles, such as reinforcement and shaping, to shape animal behavior - demonstrating the practical applications of behavior analysis in the field of dog training.
2. Participants will differentiate between therapy animals, emotional support animals, and service animals. Relevance to Behavior Analysis: This objective delves into the behavior-analytic perspective on why certain animals, particularly dogs, are chosen for specific roles based on their behavior, temperament, and ability to connect with people. It also highlights the different behavioral training requirements for each role.
3. Participants will learn how positive interactions with animal contributes to human wellbeing, with a focus on animal-assisted interventions (AAIs) and their benefits for children with autism. Relevance to Behavior Analysis: This objective links behavior analysis principles to the positive outcomes observed in animal-assisted interventions, especially regarding improvements in social skills, communication, and emotional regulation in children with autism.
